Inaugural Focus: 1st Annual Sub Theme: 9/11/2021
Desiring to lock in the 2 nd Saturday of September annually, the first Tracy Connects fell on September 11, 2021, the 20 th year anniversary of 9-1-1. The focus of that anniversary “Doing good in your community for those in need.” Therefore, this special day in the City of Tracy was to both celebrate the re-opening of businesses and the community along with the 20 the Anniversary of 9-1-1. This was an opportunity to promote unity and connectivity with the diverse community Tracy represents. The “doing good” focus was to “Help Eliminate Homelessness”. The non-profit beneficiary was Tracy Community Connections Center which was awarded $10,000.
2nd Annual Focus (9/10/2022)
This year’s focus was on “Restore Learning Loss” as many of Tracy’s youth have a gap in learning due to Covid-19 restrictions and loss of days at school. We wanted to provide opportunities to help restore what was lost and propel our students forward. The three non-profit beneficiaries this year were: Tracy Historical Museum, Tracy Police Activity League (PAL), and The Grand Foundation which received awards based on proposed projects totaling $21,500.
3rd Annual Focus (9/9/2023)
This year’s focus was on “Behavioral and Mental Health” as we brought attention to this often misunderstood, hidden, yet needed focus to our community. Too many people are suffering in silence and afraid to get the help they need; while others are unaware of the signs and lack the education needed to know how to get help for themselves or others. The three non-profit beneficiaries this year were: Tracy Golden Agers, Sow a Seed Community Foundation, and A-Z Psychotherapy who received awards totaling $7,500.
4th Annual Focus (9/21/2024)
This year’s focus is on “Emotional Wellness: Self-Care” as we bring attention to the need for self-care. While many may turn their attention to helping others; their own health often suffers. There are also others who are ashamed or afraid to even reach out for their own emotional stability. We aimed to be a part of the needed shift to get the help and focus of this serious topic. The four non-profits/organizations highlighted this year were: Community Medical Centers (Tracy), Happy Healthy Bright Kids, West High Airforce JROTC, and Department of Prevention Services (Homeless and Foster Youth Support) who will received awards and support based on their projects. We donated a total of $8,400.
